How is Gene Testing done with telehealth visits?
We send a referral to Genesight and a DNA sample collection kit sent directly to you to complete the GeneSight test from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
What is Gene Testing?
Medications are never a one size fits all. Everyone responds differently to medications and may even have different side effects. In the recent years we have been able to take a lot of the guess work when it comes to choosing a medication. We can do this through gene testing. We send a kit directly to your home, you collect a quick sample with a swab along your cheeks. You send the kit back, and a few days later we will receive a report. The report will list recommended medications and medications you may have a reaction to based on your genetics.
About the GeneSight Test
GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes clinically important genetic variations that may affect your response to medications. The results of the test can provide your doctor with information about which medications may be more likely to work. It can also identify medications that may require dose adjustments or have an increased risk of side effects based on your genetic makeup. You can find more information about the GeneSight test at www.genesight.com/product.
GeneSight Psychotropic Clinical Studies
There are seven published peer-reviewed studies showing the clinical validity, clinical utility and economic utility of the GeneSight Psychotropic test. In the GUIDED study, when clinicians used the GeneSight Psychotropic test to guide treatment decisions, patients saw a 50% improvement in remission rates versus treatment as usual. You can learn more about the clinical evidence supporting the use of the GeneSight Psychotropic test at www.genesight. com/for-clinicians.
Cost of the GeneSight Test
